About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from high school in 1992 from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Texas.  In addition, I graduated with a Bachelor degree from Texas A&M University in 1997.  My Bachelor Degree is in Sociology.

Professional Development:

Currently, I am going through the Texas Teachers on-line program for support as I continue to transition into teaching.

Current Position:

I recently changed careers at the age of 44, as a result this is my second year to teach at Evant ISD.  I started mid-year last year as the Junior High ELAR teacher.  This year, I welcome a classroom of 20 second graders.  I couldn’t be happier to be where I am.  I am excited to get this year kicked off so that I can get to know all my little ones AND “let the learning begin”.

Previous Position:

My experience immediately after graduating college in 1997 is Case Management.  I have been a Case Manager to troubled youth, a Social Worker, worked with children, and most recently the advocate for elderly abuse, neglect and exploitation through the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Family Information:

I have been married to my loving husband Chris for almost 21 years, we celebrate our anniversary in November.  Together we have 3 beautiful children ages 18, 16, and 12.  Our oldest daughter Kirsten starts college at Texas Tech this fall 2018 semester as a Freshman, so our family has new adventures on the horizon.  Caleb is 16, a Junior at Hamilton HIgh School, and is an avid outdoorsman.  He loves to fish, hunt, trap, anything involving animals and/or being outside.  Karah is the baby of the bunch of our crew and almost a teenager herself.  She starts school sports this year at Hamiton Junior High and couldn’t be more excited!!  She has been watching her siblings for many years now.  We enjoy spending time together as family is very important to us.

Personal Information:

I like to exercise and spend time with my family when I am not teaching school.  My weekends are precious to me, and I like to make the most of them.  We love family trips to the lake, the Frio River, and anywhere else we can enjoy the outdoors.  Staying in shape by working out and eating healthy are important to me, so I spend a great deal of time researching new healthy recipe ideas at times.  Mostly importantly, my family is super tight….family time means a lot and even more as my babies grow up!!
