Elementary 3-5 Science & Social Studies
I attended Lampasas ISD from kindergarten through eleventh grade with the Class of 2005. I then decided to graduate early from a local charter school. I became an early high school graduate in 2004. I attended Central Texas College, Cisco College, and Texas A&M – Central Texas before deciding to work full time as a substitute teacher/school bus driver/teaching assistant while completing my degree online from Ashford University. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education Studies in 2017. I plan to return to Texas A&M – Central Texas to complete my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in the near future.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education Studies and am certified to teach grades EC-6 core subjects.
2017 – TransformEd Elementary Conference, TEKS Resource System 101: Foundation Training for Teachers, TEKS Resource System Planning Support, Sheltered Instruction
2018 – Literacy Stations in Action Grades 3-8, Literacy Conference
This is my first year with EISD as a teacher, but I was very blessed to join the Elk family in 2013-214 as a teaching assistant. I went back to college and stayed close as a substitute teacher until my graduation in 2017. This year I teach 3-5 grades Science and Social Studies.
This is my first year to teach, but I have over fourteen years of experience in child care and education. Twelve of those years are specifically in education with Lampasas and Evant ISDs. I have worked as a subsitute teacher, school bus driver, teaching assistant, and now as a teacher. As a subsitute teacher, I worked with all grades and populations of students. As a school bus driver, I transported primarily junior high and high school students. While working as a teaching assistant in Lampasas, I worked in Content Mastery at the Middle School and served grades 6-8. As an Evant ISD teaching assistant, I began in elementary doing remediation and intervention and ended the year teaching high school Math classes. I have also worked in a daycare setting teaching Art/PE and providing care for infants through pre-kindergarten aged children.
My husband, Mike, and I were married in August of 2014. We live in Adamsville with our animals – Pebbles (long-haired dapple dachschund), Petey Joe (Jack Russel terrier), and Jake (the spoiled barn cat). We also are joined by Jethro (Netherland Dwarf rabbit) who lives in my classroom most of the time. We do not have any children yet, but are planning to welcome foster children in the near future.
I have several hobbies, but one of my favorites is spending time with my niece and God-children – Olivia, Jayden, Mackynzie, and the newly arrived Braxton. Other hobbies include spending time with my husband and family, going to the movies, attending church, and singing with the church’s choir. I also enjoy watching my favorite TV show Heartland and any other show or movie about horses. When I am not teaching, you can find me on my front porch gardening and enjoying the beautiful country view as I play with and pet my fur babies.
